High entropy alloys for structural and functional applications

The equiatomic body-centered cubic (bcc) TiZrNbHfTa high entropy-alloy (HEA) is one of the promising candidates for high temperature applications beyond Ni-based superalloys and other conventional refractory alloys. Here, we investigate structural and compositional instability in the bcc matrix and how nanosized metastable phases nucleate, grow, and improve the mechanical properties. Additionally, we are interested in investigating how HEAs work during electrocatalytic reations (see image below).
